Scout Labs – yet more public-facing sentiment analysis

Scout Labs sounds like even more of what I was thinking of than Summize. It’s a shame that the “traditional” text mining vendors didn’t get there first.

Hi Curt. Jenny, here, from Scout Labs. I know some text mining vendors have thrown up portals. Of course, they are text mining people — not marketers — so what they build is always to demonstrate technology, which, in mind mind, is never going to be the winning approach. I think companies need to stick to their DNA and do what they do best. I’d rather them continue to push the envelope in terms of their technology and let us put it to work for end-users. Thanks for your note about us. More soon…

    Hi Jenny.

To say text mining vendors are incapable of understanding applications is, in my opinion, rather glib. They have plenty of problems, but understanding application niches is something they’re pretty decent at.

But if you’d like to tell me what you think you do better, I’m all ears.

    Best,

    CAM
